Tyneside 1970's
- is a real street in South Shields and this script is the very real & true story of a family living on the breadline and the hardships faced by a young lad who is just trying to survive long enough to escape.
It's the late 1970's and our young lead is to play out the role of the author as he goes through his teens and finally into the Royal Navy at 16.
George Heron is the only child of his tyrant father and complicit mother. He is forced to into chores around the house, running errands for his lazy parents, and is the recipient of regular beatings from his father.
He has no friends to speak of. He is struggling at school and is bullied by the older boys who live in and around Wenlock Road.

- who can pass off as 13-16 yrs. And MUST be comfortable playing the role of an abused child. The actual abuse scenes are implied only; there are no physical contact moments.

Job Rate:
Unpaid as this is a private project by a drama club but the cast will get a copy of the final production and IMDb credits.
